Dotty and Muffin were taken in by CPI’s, Sarah Morris, the day before Hurricane Irma, a Category 5 hurricane that swept through the North-Eastern Caribbean in September 2017. They had been living with their mother in and around a rubbish bin in the street. Realising that the young kittens were unlikely to survive the hurricane, Sarah caught them and took them home. She intended also to catch their mother but despite various attempts, she was unable to catch her. The kittens were treated for ringworm and were provided with all necessary vaccinations, including rabies. Dotty was lucky enough to be adopted by her vet, and Muffin was adopted by one of Sarah’s students. The kittens’ mother survived the hurricane and was later spayed and taken into a foster home.
